It is so crazy it is already time for Spring Forward. I guess we weren't ready...
I found myself waking up on Sunday at about 1:00 pm, which truthfully, is nothing out of the ordinary :)
Brad and I went to enjoy a late breakfast at a cafe a block away from our place, and then came back to relax. I wanted to run some errands, so we headed out about 4:00 to hit Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrel, and then our usual Target visit. I swear I must go to Target about every other day- I think they must pump something in the air that makes you want to come back. You know, like how casinos pump in oxygen...
Anyhoo, so we walk in Pottery Barn, and after only being in there for a few minutes, we get approached a few times by assocaites asking if they could help us. Then, Brad notices someone go and lock the door. We then ask one of the employees what time they closed, and after she said 6:00, we were like, "Oh good." She looked at us rather strange, and then said, "It is 6:00 now."
Huh? My watch says 5:00.
Oh no...here is when the Spring Forward gets realized.
So, we had to hurry through, pay for our things, and not even get to go to Crate & Barrel. Thank goodness for Target being open late! After we leave Target, we run by our storage unit to grab a box, and barely make it in by their closing time, 9:00.
We made it in, but when we go to leave out of the main locked gate, the system had already shut down and we couldn't get out. No joke. Brad tried punching in his code at least half a dozen times, and all the while it is beeping back at him saying system is closed. OMG- what now??? Naturally, there is no phone number posted in case of emergency, so I decide to call the non-emergency number for the police.
The officer I spoke to was extremely nice, and actually said this happens quite often. I assumed they had a way to get the gate opened, so when an officer showed up about 20 minutes later, and said we were stuck , my mouth hit the floor. There was a side door we were able to get out through, so the next thing I know we are parking the car, and loading the box we picked up in the trunk of his police car. We stuff our bags from Target and Pottery Barn in the back seat and pile ourselves in.
Did you know that the back seat of a police car is plastic, with molded areas for your body? How uncomfortable. I guess they don't need to make it for comfort. He drove us home, and as he let us out of the backseat, I couldn't help but smile...seeing we are piling out of his squad car with all of our shopping bags. He was super cool, but I hope I never have to ride in his car again.
