Party Like Rock Stars!

Brad and I had a pretty good weekend...lots of eating and sleeping. Got to love that!!!

After working what felt like a trillion hours this past week, Brad was able to come home at a 'normal' time and we had a date night. We took the bus into downtown, grabbed something to eat, and then headed to the movies to watch Juno, which I have been dying to see! (Side note- I am not a huge advocate of teen pregnancy, but have a little celebrity crush on the actor Michael Sera :) Thanks Superbad!)

Little did we know that everyone else in Chicago was at the SAME theater to see the SAME movie- naturally. It was 9:00, and having just bought tickets to the 11:00 show, realized we had some time to kill. Next to the theater is a Lucky Strike, which is a like a huge playground for adults- pool tables, restaurant/bar, bowling, and lots of comfy couches to just loung on. Since we had full bellies, we decided to just sit and chill out and people watch. Time passed, and we finally went to find our seat in the HUGE theater, which by the way, was nearly full!!! The movie surpassed my expectations in every way. Some of the best acting I have seen in a while- there were parts that made me tear up (a couple of tears tried to fall, but no one else saw), had me laughing very hard, and then it also made me anxious- as if I knew these people!! That's good writing!
I don't advocate teen pregnancy at all, but this story is so real and genuine, you can't help but fall in love with the characters. Definite thumbs up- plan to catch this one!!!

So, of course, we then didn't get home until after 1:30, so sleeping in until 12:00 on Saturday only made sense. We did a little pre-Spring cleaning, which was mainly cleaning up huge amounts of dog hair in every inch of our place! A weekend cannot be complete without running some errands, which is usually some type of shopping :) After a few hours of being out, we ended up hunting for a place to grab dinner, and really just wanted to try something new. We found a little slice of heaven in the form of a pasta diner. It was so yummy, and the place was so cute- very small and quaint! LOVE finding new hot spots!!

After dinner, we started to head home, but realized it was 9:00 on a Saturday night, and we really didn't want to go home yet. So, to defy the feeling that we are "old homebodies" now...we called Bentley (Brad's college roommate who lives in Chicago also), and decided to meet up with him. He lives north of downtown, so by the time we met up, it was after 12:00. Partying like rock stars!!! Needless to say, we didn't head back home until after 3:00. Bentley crashed at our place, and they stayed up for another hour or so playing Xbox. Sunday was complete with an 'afternoon' wake up, a big breakfast at another of our fave spots, and watching the Dallas Cowboys lose. PERFECT Sunday!!!!!

Next week we are trying out a new church downtown, so our Sundays will only get better, less the sleeping in :)

My Monday is already going by pretty quickly, so can't complain. And it is already the middle of January! WOW- this year is already off to a fast start!!!!
