So yesterday, he is kissing me goodbye in the morning as he heads out the door to work, and tells me he found a MINT condition Ikea loveseat, which he has put in our spare bathroom. I drift back off to sleep, but wake up a short time later, and think... what had he told me he had found??
Sure enough, someone in the building next to ours put out a loveseat for trash pickup, and it was like NEW!!! Whoever put it out in the alley even took the time to wrap the cushions in plastic!
(Ironically, we actually have a rocking chair just like it, which just got put in storage to make way for Caden's nursery.) Brad tells me that he looked up pieces just like that on Craig's List, and we can definitely make some money on it! Well, praise God for that!!!He came from work last night, took pictures, and listed it on CL. Tonight, a buyer showed up and paid $140... ahhh, trash to treasure.
This happens every once and a while for us... last week, someone in our building was throwing away a Tivo machine, which Brad found and brought back, thinking we could use it in our own bedroom.
After calling to set it up, we realized we didn't want to have to run a phone cord into our room, so just decide to sell it on ebay. Brad listed it, and within hours, someone bought it and we made a very easy $25. We don't always sell our finds, as we have a great artificial tree in our living room, a brand new set of foam letters/numbers for Caden, and lots of books-- all from our very own building! It is funny, as there is this area in one of our parking garages that has become the undesignated area to put items you don't just want to throw away. I take down all of my old magazines, which are very quickly swiped up!!
